Default Body Cracking

I just picked up a 1975 Stingray and the front and rear bumper covers are splintering or cracking. I am just starting out in this project and was wondering if this is normal or should I be concerned? It looks as though that this may be due to age and the fiberglass covers are just old. When I picked up the car, it was cold out. I parked it in my garage which is temperature controlled, came back out a while later and there they were, all over the rear especially but some on the front. Also, what kind of cost should I be looking at, estimated of course, to get this repaired? Any thoughts or advice would be helpful.

There is flexible filler material available to fix the cracks, but it won't stop more from popping-up. This material is old and has become brittle. Best thing to do is to replace the bumper covers. Repros are readily available - matching the older paint will be the trick.

I'm having the same problim with my '73. I've been looking at some of the repros, and hope to have it done this summer. Unfortunately I won't be able to have it done before Bloomington Gold.
