1977 Chevrolet Corvette

Contributed by Mike Antonick, Editor "Corvette Black Book"

The 1977 was the last Corvette with the vertical rear window treatment started in 1968. Vinyl seating surfaces were banished. Leather was standard, but cloth with leather trim could be substituted at no cost. The console was a new design pulled forward from the 1978 model. It accepted a wider variety of radios thanks to its deeper radio recess. Cruise control became available, but only in combination with automatic transmission. Engine paint color changed during 1977 from Chevrolet Orange to blue. Corvettes won SCCA championships in A- and B-production. Sales for the year were 49,213. Color preferences tend to be cyclical, and for 1977 white (Classic White) was on top as best seller at 9,408. One 1977 was painted Corvette Chartreuse.
