A 35th Anniversary Edition option combined white exterior with white leather and black accents. This RPO Z01 anniversary package was limited to coupes and 2,050 were sold. Front suspensions were redesigned to have zero scrub radius steering to reduce steering wheel fight from brake torque and road inputs . Wheel offsets changed and two new wheel designs were introduced.
Fifty-six street-legal Corvettes were built for the Corvette Challenge SCCA showroom stock race series. The Challenge engines were stock, but equalized for power and sealed before shipment to Bowling Green for installation.
Callaway built 125 twin-turbos. True black--not charcoal--interiors were available. Total Corvette production was 22,789, including 7,407 convertibles. Red was 1988's top seller at 5,340. Silver was the rarest exterior at 385.
