Base and ZR-1 Corvettes had restyled front-end appearance. The rear of base models was restyled with a convex fascia to look similar to ZR-1 models. The high-mount center stop lamp was mounted in the rear facia for all models except ZR-1s where it continued to be roof-mounted. RPO Z51 was not available; it was replaced with RPO Z07 which combined elements of Z51 with the adjustable suspension package. It was available with coupes only.
The SCCA World Challenge series continued. No Corvettes were factory-built for the Challenge series, but Corvette did win the manufacturer's championship. Wheel sizes were continued from 1990, but wheel appearance was new. A sensor was added to the oil pan of all models to detect a low-oil condition. Callaway ended twin turbo production with 71 units which included 12 specially-bodied Speedster convertibles. Bright Red topped the customer color preference with sales of 5,318.
Charcoal Metallic's 417 was lowest. Total Corvette production was 20,639, including 2,044 ZR-1s, and 5,672 convertibles.
