An interior redesign included the addition of a passenger-side airbag, new door trim panels and pockets, and new seats. All seats were leather as cloth was no longer the standard seat, nor was cloth optional.

ZR-1s got a new, unique, five-spoke wheel design. Convertible rear windows were glass (with in-glass defrosters), replacing the earlier flexible plastic.

Air conditioning systems were modified for use of environmentally friendly R-134a refrigerant. Goodyear Extended Mobility (run flat) tires were optional on some models. Automatic transmission models received electronic controls for improved shift quality, and a brake pedal interlock which required depression of the brake to shift from the Park position.

Torch Red led exterior color preference with 5,073 built. Copper Metallic's 116 was rarest. Total production was 23,330, including 448 ZR-1s, and 5,346 convertibles.

Callaway's Supernatural Corvette Le Mans, a carbon-fiber bodied racer, won its class pole position for the 24-Hours of Le Mans.
