1999 Chevrolet Corvette

A hardtop model was introduced, the first time in Corvette's history that three separate body styles were simultaneously available. The hardtop, the lowest priced model, shared the external trunk design of the convertible, but its solid roof was fixed. Essentially, the hardtop was a de-contented convertible with a hardtop permanently bonded in place.

Colors and options for hardtops were limited. Twilight Sentinel, Power Telescopic Steering Column, and Head-Up Display were new options. Airbags were "next generation"" which deployed with less force. Production for the year was 18,078 coupe, 11,161 convertible, and 4,031 hardtop. The production total of 33,270 was the highest since 1986. Torch Red was the top selling exterior color at 8,361. Though not ultra rare, Nassau Blue Metallic was the year's low runner with 1,034 units.

The factory-sponsored Corvette C5-R racer entered its first race, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and finished third in the GT2 class.
